Personal Identity System

Personal Identity System

What is your character?

What makes you, you? One of the fundamental questions when designing a personal identity system. I found that this was a question better answered by those around me. I put out a survey of about 8 questions asking those in my life to describe their initial impression of me, as well as how those impressions may or may not have changed after getting to know me better. I then gathered and analyzed my survey responses for any adjectives or descriptive phrases. The most frequent and most unique responses were then incorporated into the design.

One way in which I am well known by my character is through my love of thrifting. I love giving new life to old items that are already full of character on their own. Close up details of some of these items are what became the textures and colors of my system, juxtaposed against handwritten text and speech bubbles. I see the most character in things that are perfectly imperfect. To me, hand-drawn elements are capable of displaying some of the most character because they are a visual record of a brief moment in time, something unique that can not be replicated.
